I know how important it is to wait to get a tattoo until 6 months to a year after stopping accutane. But I'm wondering if accutane could cause any damage to tattoos one already had prior to treatment?

Hello and thank you for your question. While on Accutane and few months after completing course, your skin is more prone to scarring, and thus it is recommended to avoid any elective surgeries including tattoo. The medication should not cause damage to tattoo previously on your skin, provided it is not new.
