When braces fail to sufficiently correct an overbite, there
is rarely another alternative to orthognathic surgery to correct any lingering misalignment.  Without
a physical examination it is difficult to say definitively if you are a good
candidate for orthognathic surgery so I recommend finding a board certified
oral maxillofacial surgeon.  During the
consultation process your surgeon can discuss any alternatives to orthognathic surgery

yes you need surgery to correct that issue. I would have your orthodontist send you to a oral surgeon for a consult

I think you a actually showing too much in the way of upper incisor teeth when you smile and your lower jaw is still retrognathic (setback compared to your upper jaw).In order to address this a bimaxillary osteotomy (+/- genioplasty) would be required to achieve the optimal result. This would mean impacting your upper jaw slighly and then advancing your lower jaw forwards (+/- advancing your chin point with a genioplasty). The only issue is that you would ned braces to decompensate your teeth angulation to provide the increased overjet so one could advance the lower jaw forward- in essence what your orthodontist has done is correct your overjet, but they have not really looked at your facial profile- so you still appear as class II division I.
