I had a Breast reduction in May 2016 at the time of my surgery I had both of my nipples pierced shortly after surgery I had to remove my right piercing due to severe itching. It has gotten much better but is still itchy & if I squeeze or scratch a white cheese like discharge comes out. When I squeeze it out it gets itchier & my nip gets super dry. What is happening? How do I fix this?
Answer: Nipple discharge Dear msw0711, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Nipple discharge and itchiness 4yrs post breast reduction - What is happening? How do I fix this? Thank you for your pictures and questions. It appears that you have a nice result. However, any nipple discharge needs to be taken seriously and evaluated and worked up. You should start with your regular doctor and a standard workup with exam, and imaging (mammogram/ultrasound). If those studies are normal, then you should be evaluated by a breast surgeon for a nipple duct problem. Once all worrisome things are worked out and ruled out, then see your plastic surgeon for an evaluation. Do not ignore this or put it off. I have seen many patients with cancer who initially presented with nipple drainage or even just itching. It is not likely, but it is possible and needs to be treated as such until ruled out. Hope this helps!Dallas R. Buchanan, MD, FACSOwner & Board-Certified Plastic SurgeonVIVIFY plastic surgery

Answer: Nipple discharge Nipple discharge can be anything from something very benign to something not related to your breast at all. So you should see your primary to make sure there are no significant medical things going on. Some woman, have a chronic inflammatory condition of the nipples called ductal ectasia (more common in smokers), eczema can affect the nipples, and the list goes on. So make sure there are no hormonal or medical issues, then make sure there are no primary breast problems, ultimately you may need a dermatologist. A good breast surgeon should know what to do!

Answer: Nipple discharge 4 years post breast reduction Hi and welcome to our forum! From your photos, you appear to have an excellent result. The nipple discharge, however, is alarming. It may be nothing more than an intraductal cyst....or it could be a malignancy. It may not be related to the reduction mammoplasty at all.I would recommend you first undergo evaluation by your primary care physician. You should set up the appointment right away. Best wishes...
