Interested in laser treatments - what is the difference between a dermatologist and other specialities?

I am interested in laser treatments for hyperpigmentation/scars. I have seen doctors who provide this service but they are not dermatologists or plastic surgeons. I am curious if it makes any difference what their speciality is in.

In our office, we always have a Board-Certified dermatologist on site. And we have top-notch technicians performing the procedure, who have tons of experience in this treatment &mdash; recognizing end points, making sure to take into account how settings and modes vary depending on skin color. Plus, we use what I consider to be the BEST laser hair treatment device on the market &mdash; BAREIt (by Sciton in North America and Australia/NZ) and called Primelase (by Cocoon in Europe). Darker skin types can be safely treated in the BLEND handpiece, that uses 3 wavelengths. Parameters vary based on skin color, hair color, hair density and hair thickness. This has extremely low discomfort compared to other modalities as it has 4,600 watts allowing very short pulse durations, plus we see more efficacy per treatment session compared to other devices. It’s all about safety and efficacy.
