Invisalign overcorrection - how common is this?

About 8mos into 16mos of treatment, and I am transferring care. I've consulted 5 other orthos, all of whom said the first ortho "overcorrected" and I have to wear rubber bands for 3 mos to fix my bite - something the first ortho never mentioned. Is this common? Does it mean the first ortho did something wrong?
