I had reduction surgery on January 31 this year. Six weeks later my breasts are so uncomfortable. I have continuous itching, tingling and they are hyper sensitive. Just the lightest touch is awful. They also feel quite hot. I’m still wearing a sports bra 24/7.
Answer: Hyperactive nerves after a breast reduction. Very, very common. In fact, normal but it is very aggravating and painful. I advise you to begin a desensitization program where you touch the sensitive areas with 6 objects of differing tactile stimulus. For example, break a cotton swab in two and use the pointy part to gently "prick" the skin and then use the opposite end (the cotton part) to do the same thing. Use 4 other objects and apply with differing pressure. Use this technique to help with de-sensitization. It will not resolve immediately but this process will speed the recovery. The natural tendency is to ignore the areas but this will only make the pain worse! Use the touch technique and just light massage with your hands and it will resolve.

Answer: Sensitive Breasts Hello, thank you for your question! It is normal to have this type of feeling post Breast reduction surgery. What you are feeling is the nerve endings regenerating. When this is occurring you could feel burning, tingling , itchiness of the skin, and nipples could be very sensitive. I would recommend massaging the breast with a lotion to help desensitize them. Best of luck!

Answer: Hyper sensitive breasts and tingling. Is this normal recovery? What you are experiencing is not uncommon post-op. The hypersensitivity and tingling sensation you are feeling are due to the severed nerve endings that are regenerating. It will resolve on its own as your body fully heals, which takes around 6 months.
