Is it normal that food gets stuck in the gaps that remained in between the porcelain veneers after one week?

It is generally not considered normal for food to consistently get trapped between porcelain veneers just one week after placement, particularly if this was not an issue before treatment. While minor adjustment sensations can occur initially, ongoing food impaction usually points to technical concerns such as open or improperly shaped contact points, excessive bulk, poor contouring, or inadequately sealed margins. The sensation of the veneers feeling heavy, bulky, or unnatural is also not ideal, especially when the original teeth required only minimal length correction. In addition, porcelain itself does not tear or discolor within such a short time, so a translucent layer that appears yellow or damaged is more likely related to bonding material, surface finishing, or marginal integrity rather than the veneer material itself. Feelings of regret are understandable, as veneer preparation is irreversible; however, these issues are often correctable through refinement, adjustment, or, if necessary, remaking the veneers. It is important to return to the treating dentist to discuss contact points, contours, and margins in detail, and if concerns are not adequately addressed, seeking a second opinion from an experienced cosmetic dentist or prosthodontist would be advisable.

It sounds like your veneers weren’t bonded very well or your teeth have moved.  
If the bite is putting pressure on the veneers, it may force the teeth to move.  it’s possible the veneers just weren’t made right.  
Well made and cemented veneers should feel natural and look great.  
In an advanced esthetic practice, they can do a ‘trial smile’ so that you can see and feel what your getting before the job is done. 

It is possible to have veneer material stick out over the natural teeth structure to create the esthetic appearance that you or your dentist is trying to achieve. See your dentist and see if this gap can be covered up with a new veneer or you may switch it to a crown.
