I'm 5 weeks post breast reduction. How long until I can see the actual new size?

Every patient heals differently, however it takes several months for all of the swelling to subside. You are still early in your recovery. It can take up to 6 months or more before you see your final result. Good luck!

The time required for recovery following a breast reduction varies a good deal among patients. The inflammation and swelling normally take at least 6 weeks to reduce to a point that the breast starts to feel soft and natural. Although I do understand your concerns, it is still too early to see the final outcome after breast reduction surgery. You will likely find that your breasts will change in size/shape over the course of the next several months.  Generally, best to evaluate outcome of breast reduction surgery after at least six months has passed. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be pleased with longer-term.

Thank you for your question regarding the size of your breasts. In my 35 years of experience, the standard breast reduction reduces your breast size by one half. You will have to go through the healing process for about 6 months first. Initially, you will have a period of swelling for 6-12 weeks, then some refinements in size and shape. Don't be alarmed if your size changes at a slower pace than you were expecting. At 5 weeks, you are in the early stages of healing, and your breasts will get smaller over time.
