Patients with questions and concerns about their buccal far removal complication healing process (eg. facial nerve palsy) should address those concerns with the surgeon that performed the operation, ideally during a follow up consultation.

Buccal fat removal takes place near the buccal nerves.  Buccal nerve can cause weakness similar to the pictures you have displayed.  It can take months for nerves to recover and based on photograph it is difficult to tell if there is a temporary or permanent injury.  Consider the use of  Acetyl-L-Carnitine, Nimodipine,  has shown to be helpful in regrowth.  If injury persists consider facial nerve testing with an ENT based background for further evaluation.  Best Dr. Anil Shah
