Hello there,It appears that you have a fractured premolar, not a fractured eye-tooth. Your dentist may be able to fill the root of the tooth, but should ultimately place a porcelain crown. I understand that cost may be a factor, but I would suggest financing or using your credit card to get this tooth fixed. This is because if you do not crown this tooth, you risk fracturing this tooth into the root. Once the root is fractured, the tooth will become extremely painful and you will need it extracted. Once extracted, your other teeth will start to space out, creating gaps. Good luck and I hope this helps. Sarah Thompson, DMDReal Self 100
First of all, if your dentist recommends a root canal have that procedure performed first. After root canal treatment the tooth will eventually need a crown but maybe able to get by temporarily with a buildup that is going to replace the missing tooth structure. Restoring the tooth back to its original appearance would depend on the skill of the dentist and the material. Usually the buildup material is not designed to be stron g at extreme sizes. The longer you wait for the crown the more at risk the tooth will be for fracture.

I would recommend having your dentist perform dental bonding which would add the missing portion of your tooth back and match the tooth next to it. This is typically very easy and painless. This bonding will need to be replaced ever once in a while due to staining that can occur....
