I went to my orthodontist today and she said 45 trays for my treatment . Of course, after the initial shock forgot to ask how would that work ? Is it 45 for the top and bottom teeth combined or 90 trays total ? Can the number of trays go down if treatment moves along faster than the clinical check predicted ? Thanks .
Answer: Invisalign App to Help Figure Out When to Change Your Trays
I can imagine you being surprised learning you had 45 trays, if you weren't expecting them but it's not uncommon to have so many trays. Just think...you're smile will be that much nicer and your bite that much healthier!
WANT TO KNOW WHAT DAY YOU ARE GOING TO BE DONE??
Go to the Apple Store and Download:
align on time
It's the #1 app on itunes for invisalign!! It is also available on Droid.
The app does two things:
1. Figures out the day you should be done with your Invisalign treatment.
Put the number of trays and how often your doc wants you to change them, scroll down and VOILA....you will see the end date of when you should be finished with your treatment.
2. Tells you when you should change your trays or aligners!
You can sync it with your calendar on your phone and your phone will vibrate when it's time to change your aligners.
Follow the steps below after downloading align on time
1. Choose Aligners (upper or lower - doesn't matter)
2. Start Date - scroll to the date you want to start (it automatically defaults to your start date being today.
3. Days Till Change - how often does your doctor want you to change your trays? example: If your doctor says to change your aligners every 2 weeks, like in this case, go to 14. (14 days)
4. Aligner Count - how many aligners do you have in total. example in this case 45 aligners.
5. Go to View Schedule and it will give you the date of your last aligner.
6. ADD ALL - means you can add it to your calendar and it will sync with your phone.
Therefore, if you started your treatment the day of your email, September 14th and have 45 aligners, changing them every 2 weeks. You should be starting your last aligner on May 23, 2015 and should be done by the end of May 2015 :)) The new version of align on time, is out next month. GOOD LUCK!!!!! :-))
Best always,
Dr. Jacquie Smiles

Answer: How often to change trays with Invisalign
Yes that would usually mean 45 trays for upper and 45 trays for lower. Sometimes if your compliance is really good your orthodontist might let you wear each tray for slightly less than 2 weeks each to speed up the process.

Answer: Treatment time for invisalign
Invisalign is worn for two weeks at a time. If you have 45 trays for both top and bottom you will be wearing them for 90 weeks which is a little under 2 years. Treatment will not be faster as you need to be wearing the trays for two weeks at a time
Hope this helps
