Answer: Hair Loss Basics--prp, progesterone, hair transplantation, Minoxidil This needs an in-person evaluation. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Medical hair restoration therapies Irrespective of the treament, positive results are usually evident at 2-3 months of consistent use. If hair loss persists after this point without improvement, alternative or adjunct treatment should be considered. Your options include the addition of finasteride (Propecia) to your regimen. You might also consider compounded topical Minoxidil/Finasteride formulations which have the benefit of lessened systemic side effects. Melatonin is also showing promise as well when used as an additive in topical formulations. Finally, PRP has shown promise in halting hair loss, thickening residual hair and promoting regrowth. This has been especially popular in those younger individuals who are not ready for hair transplant. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS) with experience in hair restoration.

Answer: Hair loss At your young age with early hair loss minoxidil alone may not be able to overcome the rate of hair loss you are experiencing. Certainly, I would suggest talking to a board certified facial plastic surgeon experienced in hair health about your options including propecia and possibly PRP(platelet rich plasma) injections.

Answer: Using Minoxidil 10%, still no results after 5 months it often takes 6-9 months to see results from minoxidil. given your story, you would be best served by seeing a hair restoration physician to discuss other options to use in addition to minoxidil, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), laser therapy and finasteride (Propecia). A combination of modalities often is better than a single one.

Answer: Minoxidil and male balding It is not possible to give advice on what you should do without knowing all your medical details and seeing your scalp up close. One always needs to keep in mind with a question like this that minoxidil does not help all men. In fact, it helps only 20-30 % of users to a signficant and meaningful way. See a doctor who understands hair loss for guidance on what to do next.
