Hello Plucky Thank you for your question. Centerline correction is one of the reasons people seek orthodontic treatment. One of the main factors is how far off your center line is. We usually look the center of your cupid's bow to decide how far your midline is, but we like to look at it while you are at rest (ie not smiling), the reason is that your lip could deviate a little bit to one side when you smile and that will not give us a good representation of your true center line. Once we determine how far off your midline is from your face, then we come up with different strategies to fix it. If it is off by 1-2 mm, it is usually achieved by minor changes to your teeth. If your midline is off by a large number (4-5 mm ) then the options will be different and might include taking a tooth out. I am really glad that you are in treatment, because you can talk to your orthodontist about your concern and choose the best route. I can see that your bottom teeth are very crowded, but I do not have a full set of pictures, so it is hard to comment on the treatment approach without having the whole picture. But there is always a treatment strategy that can help fix it. It is possible that you are missing a tooth on one side of your mouth and that is why your midline shifted to one side (again, impossible to comment on it without having full records). I hope this answers your question. Best of luck!
