No other surgeon will touch me after 4 ops in 1 year for the same umbilical hernia. In chronic pain, what do i do? (photo)

Hernias are probably one of the most under appreciated problems and you are proof of this as they can be like a snow ball that starts rolling down a hill. It is a tough situation, but I would suggest going to see an academic surgeon who has a lot of experience with abdominal wall reconstruction near you because you will need someone close by to care for you. Something else other then the surgeon that is frequently overlooked is nutrition. Simply put if your nutrition is poor you will not heal no matter who does your surgery and you can not smoke and if you have diabetes it has to be tightly controlled. I would suggest consuming at least 100g of protein per day. Greek yogurt, nutritional yeast in addition to traditional high protein sources are invaluable to your healing. The problem with a hernia and recurrent surgeries is that patient's nutrition continues to get worse as the problems persist and it is imperative that you get your nutrition corrected immediately and start keeping track of your protein intake and get it consistently above 100g a day.
