I was banded 10 years ago in Mexico (self pay), found a Dr. in the states, lost over 100 lbs. I began gaining weight and found that my band had a leak & he recommended that I repair the band. I later went to the ER in order to get a upper GI and they noted that my esophagus had dilated, I'm wanting my band removed and convert to the sleeve in the United States. I have insurance (open network) that covers bariatric surgery (not sure of removal), will it cover me if I chose to go out of state?
