Ibuprofen use 8 days post op - Is that ok to do ?

Hello i am 8 days post op and the lady giving me the lymphatic massages said It is ok to use ibuprofen instead of Tylenol because it is an anti inflammatory medication. Is that ok to do ?

Thank you for your question! I recommend waiting until you are 3 weeks post op to take any blood thinners such as ibuprofen and aspirin. Best of luck!

I recommend that my patients STOP all sources of Aspirin or other Pain medicine or Cold Preparations 10 days BEFORE surgery.  Aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, Advil, Ibuprofen, and Pepto-Bismol all contain agents that will thin your blood and cause surgical complications.  I issue the SAME precautions FOLLOWING surgery and recommend Tylenol instead.  
Your surgeon may have a different protocol, so best to check with him or her.  The only person who can answer your questions realistically is the plastic surgeon who performed your surgery.
