Certainly a punch excision can effectively be used to treat a chickenpox scar. Punch excisions generally are good for deepers scars such as ice-pick acne scars and chickenpox scars. The punch excision can be followed by laser or chemical resurfacing to blend the treated area into the surrounding skin if needed. Alternatively, you may wish to consider the TCA cross method involving application of a very strong chemical peeling agent to stimulate collagen growth and the filling in of the scar over time (patience would be required in this case, as it would take several months for the scar to fill in). There is no standard rate for punch biopsies - you will need to ask a few offices in your area of the country for pricing.Good luck.
