Is Lipocontrast less likely than CoolSculpting to result in paradoxical adipose hyperplasia?

Hi! I’ve been looking into Lipocontrast where the fat is heated as well as cooled during the treatment. I am SUPER nervous about paradoxical adipose hyperplasia. I’m quite slim (5’3” & 125lbs) with stubborn love handles. Is Lipocontrast less likely to result in PAH? Many thanks!

I would not be super nervous about PAH happening.  It is such a rare complication and Allergan helps patients with it if it occurs.  CoolSculpting is the only FDA cleared procedure to get rid of fat cells permanently.  In order for heat to work, the fat cells must get above 45 degrees.  In order for freezing to work the fat cells need to get less than -11 degrees Celsius.  I don't know how one procedure can cause your fat cells to go higher than 45 and less than -11 in one sitting.  I would be cautious in believing that would work. Personally, I love CoolSculpting.  It works and the complications are so rare that I would not worry about them.
