I have these "vampire fangs" from extremely crooked canines, but the rest of my teeth are almost perfectly straight. I've had braces before but didn't wear the retainer afterwards so my teeth overcrowded and now I'm a vampire. How long would it take to correct this problem and straighten my teeth? I am now 18 years old and had braces around age 10.

From the photo you provided, it does not look like you need any type of surgery. I would recommend braces or invisalign treatment to align your teeth and correct slight overbite
Take a close look...is there room in the dental arch for this tooth? If not then there is no chance that the tooth will get any better! One of the major problems in orthodontics is to find room to align the teeth...enough room and it is easy to straighten the teeth...not enough room...
If you are an adult of course you can...no doctor can hold a patient hostage. If you are a child your parents can insist that the braces be removed.Having said this, it would be better to get things done right. Treatment time is an estimate...sometimes it takes longer to get things...
