2 weeks post breast reduction and losing a ton of blood and in a lot of pain. Is it normal to leak that much? (photos)

I had a breast REDUCTION and lift on the 20th of March in Miami Fl. I live in Texas. I have been writing and sending video to him but he has just advised me to see my PCP. I have an appointment with her Tuesday. My problem is, I am losing a lot of blood. I wake up 2 or 3 times a night and have to change my dressings becouse I am soaked in yellowish, pinkish blood and puss. Is this normal amount of leakage?how do I close the wounds? Who should i go see and how soon? I'm in so much pain.

Hi! It is not normal to have that much drainage. It sounds like you may have an infection. You need to be seen ASAP by a plastic surgeon. Do not wait! Make sure you call your sugeon and let him/her know what is going on they should be able to suggest a surgeon for you to see locally. Best of luck to you!

No that is not a normal amount of drainage after a breast reduction. You might have an infection or a collection of fluid called a seroma. You need to be seen by a doctor, preferably a plastic surgeon, sooner rather than later. Your surgeon in Miami should be able to guide you through this process. Good luck.

Hi, from the photos you have posted it looks like you may be suffering from an infection and / or fat necrosis of the breast. The blood loss appears to be minimal. I would suggest seeing your surgeon as soon as possible. Normally complications such as these are rare and should be possible to correct.

You appear to have an infection (the pus from one side), whilst the other side seems to be discharging serous fluid (the blood stained more watery fluid).  You should be seen fairly urgently by a doctor (preferably your surgeon, but I understand you live far away).  I recommend antibiotics at the very least.  The amount of fluid draining is also not usual, but it is not large amounts of blood.  Continue to contact your surgeon or seek out someone else closer to home to see you sooner rather than later.  All the best
