My sister (a dermatologist) put me on spiro 150mg/daily back in January. About 2 months later i started having breakthrough bleeding, especially after sex during 2nd half of cycle. Cleared for STI's and pap, very healthy. My body is very sensitive to hormones. My gyn said i have cervical ectropian(often caused by oral cont or anything that increases estrogen). I stopped spiro 3- weeks ago ...how long for hormones to normalize? Would it take months since it takes months to work? 4

Spironolactone can affect hormonal balance due to its anti-androgenic properties, and can sometimes cause side effects like breakthrough bleeding. After discontinuation, the time it takes for hormones to normalize can vary widely from person to person, depending on factors like individual metabolism, the dose of the drug, and the duration of use.
On average, most people can expect their hormones to begin to normalize within a few weeks to a few months after stopping the medication. However, given that you have cervical ectropion, a condition which can be influenced by hormonal changes, it might take a little longer for your symptoms to completely resolve.
