Why do I have pain when I bite into food with a fixed upper frontal 6 point bridge?

It sounds like the bridge needs to be remade if you're no longer able to bite through food. At best it just needs an adjustment to 'sharpen' the edge so you don't have to tear off food... that's silly! There's also better material that does not have metal which can show a dark edge over time. Sincerely,Dr. Reiser

Overall, you should not be experiencing discomfort when you bite, but your teeth/gums may need more time to heal. Although you should be able to bite into food with your new restorations, it's not recommended since you don't want to risk fracturing it. Your dentist will be able to tell if you have a high occlusion and adjust your bite accordingly, as this is likely what your discomfort is coming from. In addition, continue to monitor if you have hot/cold sensitivity since this could mean that you need a root canal in the future, which is a risk when treating restorations. I would suspect initially the bite may be off on your bridge or crowns, you need to have that checked first.  If that does not correct the issue then X-rays should be taken to ensure there are no infections and fractures.  I would also probably recommend a nightmare to protect your investment up front, this may also help alleviate excess pressure on the bridge and crowns.  If your dentist will not look into this then try a second opinion at another practice.
