It sounds like the bridge needs to be remade if you're no longer able to bite through food. At best it just needs an adjustment to 'sharpen' the edge so you don't have to tear off food... that's silly! Overall, you should not be experiencing discomfort when you bite, but your teeth/gums may need more time to heal. Although you should be able to bite into food with your new restorations, it's not recommended since you don't want to risk fracturing it. Your dentist will be able to tell if you have a high occlusion and adjust your bite accordingly, as this is likely what your discomfort is coming from. In addition, continue to monitor if you have hot/cold sensitivity since this could mean that you need a root canal in the future, which is a risk when treating restorations.
