My nose looks severely upturned after rhinoplasty, is this due to swelling? (photos)

Hi, I had my cast off on day 9! My nose looks so piggy like I am really worried it’s going to stay like this. I have spoken to the local clinic of who I had it done with and they don’t seem concerned and said I need to wait for swelling to go down. I feel sick with my new nose at the moment. Please helppp! The first photo was the cast removal day. Second and third are from today (day after cast removal)

Yes, you are likely experiencing swelling following your surgery and should begin to experience improvement as your swelling subsides. I suggest that you discuss your healing progress and recovery instructions with your board certified facial plastic surgeon and medical team.

You need to have patience with your body as it begins to heal. The skin, bone and cartilage are all traumatized during surgery. Inflammation (swelling) is the normal response and will help your nose to heal and look beautiful in the end. If, one year from now, you are unhappy with your nose, then that is the time to think about a revision procedure. Right now, concentrate on other things you like to do and let your nose and under eyes take the time to heal. You have to give yourself some more healing time.  Your nose and surrounding areas are going to be swollen for a while and you should be consulting the surgeon that performed the procedure. However, give yourself some time before going back in so some of it can subside. It can take up to a year for final results.

You are still very early on in the healing process.  It is natural to want to know exactly how things are going to look once the cast comes off.   Your nose will be going through a lot of changes in the next few weeks to months.   Depending on how the cast and tape was on your nose it can cause it to look over rotated early on.   The majority of the swelling will be gone after two months and minor changes will occur after that for another 10-14 mos.   Waiting is the hardest part.   Already it looks like the nose is nice and straight with a nicely refined tip and already looks great from the frontal view.
