I'm going to see a cardiologist before my surgery but would like to know if any doctors on here have performed these surgeries on someone with heart palpitations and if so were there any complications during surgery as well as during recovery. Did it increase the stress on the heart possibly making the palpitations worse.?
Answer: A cardiac arrhythmia is not necessarily a contraindication to a tummy tuck.
Many cardiac palpitations are completely benign. It sounds as though your cardiologist is going to help you sort this out. The decision to proceed is left to the cardiologist, the surgeon, and the anesthesiologist.

Answer: Can Someone with Heart Palpitations Get Major Surgery Such As a Tummy Tuck... Thank you for the question. Tummy tuck procedures can be done safely for patients with a variety of different “medical conditions”. Careful evaluation and treatment of the medical condition is necessary prior to determining the appropriate candidates for the tummy tuck procedure. In your case this would be best done by a cardiologist. The physicians who know your situation best would be best suited to discuss your suitability for the procedure and the potentially increased risks/ complications that you should consider. Also, please make sure you are seeking consultation with well experienced board-certified plastic surgeons who preferably work with board-certified anesthesiologists in a fully accredited surgery facility. I hope this helps.

Answer: Cardiac clearance prior to elective plastic surgery
You are going about the process in the right manner. Get clearance from your cardiologist before you consider any elective cosmetic surgery. It is possible that you may need to divide your surgery into two stages. An examination is necessary of course.

Answer: Surgery is possible
I concur with your plan to be evaluated by a cardiologist to get "Clearance" before any elective surgery. Multiple procedures can be done safely, but it depends on your health status (past medical history), your anatomy, and the amount of surgery/type of procedures to be done. On longer cases, an overnight stay may be recommended. Please talk to your plastic surgeon to get their thoughts on the matter as they are most familiar with your medical history and overall health status. Please confirm that your plastic surgeon is board certified plastic surgeon specifically by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Remember, safety first. You can always come back and fight another day.
