What Happens Logistically While One is Waiting on a Retainer or a Set of Refinement Aligners? How Does Other Cosmetic Work Fit?

I have 3 more aligner sets until I will be done (moving to retainer) or head for minor refinement. I have many attachments, and I will also need cosmetic leveling of the edges of my upper incisors. If we determine that it is time for a retainer, how long does it take to get one? Will I use my last aligner set for a longer period of time while I wait? If we level my teeth, how will they fit into the aligner/retainer? If I need refinement, what happens while I wait for the additional aligners?

Teeth can shift a little, but so long as you wear the aligners then the movement is slight.If you want to level the teeth edges before refinement then that is Ok as well, but there will be a gap in the aligners that will be visible during the day.Most people will wear the last aligner at night until the aligners arrive

Any cosmetic contouring of your teeth or additive cosmetic bonding should not be done until after the final alignment trays. If you're not in too much of a rush, wear your first set of retainers for 3 months before doing any cosmetic work to allow for stabilization. After the cosmetic work is complete, have another impression taken and then have new retainers made.
