hi i have recently been prescribed Warfarin for a cardiovascular condition, my concerns are can i safely go ahead with planned dermal filler treatments whilst on these blood thinners ?
Answer: Injections while on Coumadin I think this is a individualized decision that should be made on a case by case basis between you and your provider. I think it is possible to inject certain areas that are compressible while on Coumadin. This means that if you were to start bleeding after the injection, compression could be placed on the area long enough to stop the bleeding. Typically, an area that can't be compressed well should not be treated because you will bleed too much. In addition, you will have much more bruising than ordinary due to the blood thinner. If I were your provider, I would only inject superficial areas that can be compressed well, and limit the amount of needle injections by using a cannula when possible. If your injector is an advanced physician injector, you will do just fine. Thanks for the question, and good luck !!! Dr. G

Answer: Filler with blood thinner Yes you can get filler while taking Warfarin, although it is not ideal. This may increase risk of bruising and or healing time.

Answer: Injections on Blood thinners You can definitely have fillers while on blood thinners but you must discuss this with your physician first and be sure that they are experienced with these types of patients. The injections must be over areas that are compressible and you will likely have considerably more bruising than other patients, but if you are prepared for this, you should do fine. Answer: Dermal fillers and blood thinners Yes it is possible to have dermal fillers when on blood thinners. This is a discussion you should have with your injector to make sure that they are comfortable doing this procedure on patients that are anticoagulated. The key is to inject slowly with minimal puncture sites, use lots of pressure and ice to minimize bruising.

Answer: Dermal Fillers with warfarin Hello! Thank you for your question. You can get dermal fillers while on an anticoagulant such as Warfarin. There is an increased risk for bruising and bleeding when taking any blood thinner. I would discuss with your cardiologist and get clearance for treatment. You can also prevent bruising by taking Arnica Montana supplements 3 days prior to treatment. Best of Luck! Glow Med Spa Encino
