Will Retin-A/Renova help my under eye lines? (Photo)

Question

Hello, I am 44 with fine lines that follow my tear trough area. I have posted about this before and received recommendations of fillers, but I have read they are better for filling the tear trough area than they are for lines/wrinkles. Will Retin-A or Renova help diminish these lines at all? My mother is 75 with very deep lines along the tear trough that extend out beyond the eye, and I'm afraid that is the road I"m headed down as well. Thank you!

Troughs are best treated with fillers - fine lines can be decreased by Vitamin A,however in this area the must be used with extreme caution. Other methods to treat fine lines in this area include gentle Pico laser, or fractional lasers. Here is a guide as to the use of Vitamin A topically. All in the video. Kind regards, Dr Davin Lim. You are correct. Fillers work to fill the tear troughs and do not work as well on fine lines. On the other hand, they do help deeper lines by adding hyaluronic acid that the body can use to create its own collagen and help fill the lines. For the fine lines, you do need Retin-A (or the generic tretenoin). By the way, Renova does not work. It is compounded with mineral oil to keep the reaction down. What this does is prevent its absorption and, thus, prevents it from working. The reaction, which can be controlled, is necessary to start the body creating collagen and filling the lines. I also add a product like Vitamin C Serum to balance the skin's pH and help with the Retin-A absorption and ELASTIderm by Obagi to help convert the created collagen to elastic tissue and tighten the skin.
