I am a 22yo university student and I will be applying to have my procedure covered by OHIP (liposuction not covered - therefore not an option for me). I have been a size 32E since ~age 12 and I am slender/muscular (5'6-130lbs) with minimal excess fat tissue in my upper/axillary chest area. I am pursuing surgery due to serious chronic pain, but still concerned with what my aesthetic results may be. Considering my thin frame, is liposuction really a necessity to achieve attractive breast contour?
Answer: Breast reduction for someone who is thin Since you're thin, it generally means that your overlarge breasts are primary caused by excess tissue (and not fat), which can only be removed with the standard breast reduction technique--i.e., excision-based.Liposuction as a way to reduce breast size will only work if the main culprit is the excess breast fat. However, for many thin pre-menopausal women this is rarely the case. Good luck and best wishes.

Answer: The Bellesoma Method Thank you for you question and photo, The Bellesoma Method is a current technique to lift and/or reduce breasts without using implants or the ugly vertical scars. The incisions are hidden around the areola and in the inframammary crease. The vertical incision has been completely eliminated. The areola incision heals almost invisibly due to the fact that there is hardly any tension on the closure. With this particular technique, ducts are preserved along with nerve supply maintaining nipple sensation and the ability to breast feed. Because the breast is reshaped internally and is secured to your chest muscles, upper pole fullness is possible without an implant. Attached is a patient who underwent The Bellesoma Method. Please note that her tissue was used to create upper pole fullness and cleavage without any foreign materials (mesh, implants, etc). Unfortunately, we do not accept insurance for breast reductions. Dr. Horndeski does not remove enough breast tissue to meet insurance criteria. Instead, he utilizes the breast tissue to reshape the breast. It is a proprietary technique that only surgeons that have been trained by me can perform. I hope this helps. Best wishes and kind regards, Dr. Gary Horndeski

Answer: BR without lipo The size after most reductions varies from C to D. Depending upon how the skin redrapes and the contour looks, the plastic surgeon makes judgments in creating the best looking breast possible with the smallest scar. A breast lift will accompany this procedure but fat grafts may not be needed.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Breast reduction Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Liposuction is typically a part of the breast reduction surgery, but is not ALWAYS a part of it. You should be able to get an excellent result, even without liposuction. Of course, you will need an in-person consultation to evaluate you for this procedure. Preoperative visualization and surgical simulation with the Crisalix system may help with your decision. I suggest that you find a board-certified plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of patients who have had similar procedures. Good luck!
