How long after a breast reduction is it okay to handle breasts roughly?

I suggest my patients refrain from all sexual activity for 1 month after surgery.  At that point vigorous activity should be avoided for another 2 months.  If it hurts, even if it has been 6 months or more after surgery, it is too much.

Your plastic surgeon will give you the best answer in your specific case about this and sex. For most of my patients I allow sex to begin at 6 weeks with the woman on top to minimize the risk of trauma. Here are some fo the guidelines I give my patients: Following surgery, you will be walking in a bent-over position to keep tension off the newly tightened skin incision site. Although strenuous activity, and lifting more than ten pounds, must be avoided for 6 weeks, some people can return to work and daily activities as soon as 2 weeks after surgery. Softening of the surgical scars, return of sensation, and loosening of the tight sensation may take several months to a year or more. Abdominoplasty involves a recovery period of 10 to 14 days longer than most plastic surgical procedures. Initial discomfort and decreased mobility is typical. To decrease this discomfort, we offer a long acting local anesthetic. This numbing injection solution (Exparel) which lasts for 3-4 days allows for an easier recovery and is preferable to older pain pump technology. 3-5 days or more of assistance at home is usually indicated. Light activity is comfortable in 10-20 days. No sports or heavy lifting for 6 weeks or more – please discuss with your doctor for specific questions.

Thanks for the question.  Given the fact you had to have a revision, I would rely on your Plastic Surgeon to give you the answer you are seeking.  It really depends on how healed all your wounds are...

While it is fine to have sexual intercourse after a breast reduction, just take it easy on  " the girls" for about 4-6 weeks.-- If it is sore when your husband is touching you, then he should be gentle or hold off on that aspect for a while longer!Good Luck.

Congratulations on your surgery. I usually advise my patients not to engage in strenuous workouts for at least three weeks after breast reduction surgery. Activity restrictions include not lifting anything heavier than five
pounds for three weeks and avoiding contact sports for six weeks. This includes vigorous breast manipulation and having your breasts and nipples squeezed. Any additional procedures intended to correct a problem which occurred as a result of surgery typically reset the clock. Considering you had a wound closure just 10 days ago I recommend you discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon. He/she will be able to assess how well you are healing and whether you are ready to resume certain activities. I wish you the best!
