I have severe gum disease. I had flap/bone grafting surgery. It has been exactly 3 days since i had the surgery and yesterday, i noticed 1 white spot on my gum. It is a little swollen and sore but nothing painful. The rest of my gum seems normal. I am taking ibuprofen, and I was told I could take amoxicillin if the swelling didn't stop after 3 days. Should i take the antibiotic or could i wait and see what happens? I don't want to take an antibiotic if it is not necessary.

Hi;
What you see, looks like to be the membrane that your surgeon placed over your bone to protect it from coming out of the grafted site. Just keep it clean with the antibacterial mouthwash and let the ara heal.

I really doubt putting gause or anything else over the site will make any diference.
If you have had implants placed , ideally you should give up smoking and if this is not possible try to avoid smokling for a couple of weeks following placement especially if a bone...
