Degree of damage from IPL on chest? (Photos)

Hi there, I've had limelight used on my face to great success but this is my chest one day post treatment. My treating nurse says it ok and will heal but I am unsure- do these look like burns and if so how likely are they to heal? I'm terrified after reading horror stories.

This definitely looks like the parameters on the IPL device were set too high and have caused burns, likely by excessive overlap and poor technique.  You are not supposed to see blisters after such a treatment and the diffuse crusting is not part of the typical healing process.  You need to be placed on topical and systemic corticosteroids and make sure to use ample Vaseline.  You should go back to the clinic that treated you and ask to be seen by a physician that can appropriately care for you.  This nurse is flat out wrong to tell you that this picture is ok.  Best of luck!

IPL is a great treatment for facial rejuvenation. If the settings are inappropriate the treatment can lead to redness, discoloration, burns, and blisters. Wound care includes keeping the area moist and applying an occlusive moisturizer such as Vaseline. Ice packs work well for redness, heat, and swelling. Prolonged discolorations can be treated with topical products such as hydroquinone. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!
