I have mild swelling, itching, and redness after RF needling, could this be an allergic reaction?

It has been about a week since I had the procedure done. Right now I have small red bumps on my face and neck as well as itching. Is this an allergic reaction? What can I apply topically to help with the healing/reduce this effect?

It is normal to have swelling and/or redness after microneedling for a few days and this is due to inflammation and histamine release. If it doesn't resolve in a few days, please consult your Doctor.  I find adding PRP decreases redness and swelling more quickly and we like to do microneedling with lasers to get better outcomes.  Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for sharing what you are experiencing.  An allergic reaction typically would take place within seconds or minutes after exposure to an allergen, that is in severe reactions.  Some reactions can occur several hours later, it is rare a reaction take place 24-48 hours after being exposed to an allergen.  
What to expect post micro needling is erythema and edema to the treated area, this should subside after the first 48 hours.  While your skin is healing you should experience dry, tight or itchy sensations.  At my practice a post microneedling kit is sent home, a safe hydrating cream can be applied to help alleviate those sensations.

Usually by day 4-5 this would have settled, and yes, the addition of PRP does speed up the healing process tremendously. If you are still having problems at 7 days - see your specialist who performed this procedure. Itch and bumps can be due to many conditions including allergic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, candida, viral, or bacterial infection or simply occlusion.
