This is my 4th month of accutane and I am still getting a few large pimples like I did before accutane. My acne has gone away significantly but I still get small bumps and a few large pimples. And my skin is insanely dry. I also have delvelpoed painful eczema on my arms. Is this normal?

Thanks for your questions. Everything you describe is quite normal for those undergoing isotretinoin (Accutane) treatment. It is normal at 4 months to still be seeing a little bit of activity but as you have described you should notice that it is much less by the 4th to 5th month. It is also common to have very dry skin while on the treatment and sometimes this leads to what we call a “retinoid dermatitis” but can often be calmed down with good moisturization and sometimes a topical steroid is needed. I would recommend reaching out to your treating physician if you are feeling the dermatitis is getting difficult to control with just over the counter moisturizers. Good luck.
