Swelling 5 weeks post revision TT, is this healing? (photos)

Question

I’m 5 weeks post tummy tuck revision I tore my internal stitches first time and developed a hematoma. I have a lower bulge no fluid present as it’s been all drained out last attemp only had 5ml, will it be swelling is there signs of swelling? From the front looks so good but from the side it’s not. Thanks

Hello,At 5 weeks you are still very early in your healing.  Especially undergoing a revision you may notice that you take longer to heal vs the first TT as you have significant scarring from the first surgery.  Fluid/swelling tend to go south due to positioning and gravity and with time should resolve.  Make sure to follow your plastic surgeon's post operative recommendations and communicate your concerns with him/her.Best of Luck with your healing!Dr. Rednam

Remember that all the fluid that started in your upper abdomen is now at the lowest portion of your abdomen. Add to that the fact that fluid used to be able to drain into your inguinal (upper thigh) lymph nodes. Your incision now makes that more difficult. Try not to be too active, watch your salt and be patient. Good luck.
