Sorry this is happening, it must be frustrating.  There are a few factors that may be impacting the strength of the bonding.  One is the eroded enamel and possible presence of acid which could be affecting the bond.  Another is the steps and technique taken to actually bond the composite in the first place, there may have possibly been moisture contamination.  I would suggest for the dentist roughening the remaining composite very mildly with a bur, then use direct air abrasion with aluminum oxide, followed by phosphoric acid etch, a product called GLUMA applied onto the tooth, a good bonding agent, and finally the composite.  This must all be done in a dry field with the tooth isolated from the adjacent teeth and rest of the mouth, no moisture. And a good curing light for 20-40 sec, this is a piece of equipment used in the final step to polymerize the composite.   Another factor may be your bite, or the way your teeth are contacting and colliding when you bite, chew or grind.  Generally your canines should only contact when you are grinding forward and side-to-side.  This separates the rest of the teeth and especially prevents the lateral incisor in this case from contacting.  There should also be very light contact on this tooth as well when you simply bite down.  These are all checked with articulating paper which is placed over the teeth while you are duplicating these motions and leaves marks where there is heavier contact.  Good luck!

Composite bonding is often a good first choice because it is less expensive than other options and can be done in one visit. It doesn't work in every situation however. If the bonding is constantly subjected to high biting force, like on the edge of an incisor or canine, it may wear away. A veneer might be a better choice.

The reason that your bonding came off is primarily due to your bite especially on that particular tooth that you have done. The canines are the main force center that guide your bite in all different directions.
