I'm 32. Since getting my braces off as a teen my teeth have shifted & also worn down over time (grinding, etc). My dentist bonded several of my teeth to provide some of the length I used on have but now one has come off. This also happened when I had another dentist bond a small chip several years ago - it only lasted a short time. I believe the recent event occurred last nt when I was eating sth hard (a chocolate bar &it was cold).Lastly is this sth most dentists will replace free of charge? TY
Answer: Bonding chipped, is it free to fix? #RealSelf100 #DrSarahThompson Hello Sarah,Usually, something like this is not free to fix. This because bonding is not really a permanent solution. If you are looking for a solution that will last you decades, I would recommend getting porcelain veneers. Make sure that the cosmetic dentist that places the veneers has plenty before and after photos of patients that he/she has treated successfully. If you continue to get bonding, it will continue to break off and it may even lead to the loss of more tooth structure, each time it breaks off. Good luck and I hope this helps. Answer: What to do for chipped bonding on front teeth, after several attempts by different dentist It seems like you have shorter teeth due to your grinding habit and the reason for your chipped bonding is the 2 folds:1- the dental bonding material is not strong enough to withstand the forces of your bite2- you might not have enough room on your teeth to place the composite dental bonding restoration.Solution:You need to have a complete evaluation and have bite analysis doneIf no room, you can smooth the chipped tooth or bonding, if you do not mind the length of your teeth. If you want longer tooth, ask the cosmetic dentist to substitute with porcelain veneers. Even with porcelain veneers if your bite is traumatic, you can still fracture the porcelain, and I have seen a fracture even on EMAX porcelain which is 4 times stronger than regular porcelain. The answer is to check your bite, with an expert cosmetic dentist and make sure there is canine guidance, and no interference on the material when you slide your jaw forward.

Answer: Bond came off one of my teeth after only a month or two. What is my best option? Since the your dentist added length, he should have advised you to be careful with what you eat. Biting into a hard chocolate bar is a recipe for disaster. He may offer to replace it for free, but since it was your fault, he may feel he is entitled to charge a fee. For the future, my advise would be as follows: In order to add length to a tooth with bonding, you the dentist will get better bond strength if he extends the bonded surface over as much of the enamel on the front of your tooth as possible. There is a skill to doing this and most dentists shy away from using composite because it tends to stain and chip more easily than porcelain. However, porcelain(veneers) are more expensive and require filing down of your natural healthy tooth structure. There is now a procedure called EasySmile Veneers which allows a dentist to create a veneer out of a technologically advance resin foundation material. This material is stain resistant, and very strong. The dentist trained in this technique can provide a Preview Veneer in about 2 minutes so that you can see the results before proceeding with the final restoration. This assures that you will be satisfied with the final result, shape, form, and color. The procedure is not branded as yet and is unknown by most dentists. Any dentist can be trained to perform this procedure by contacting Dr. Harvey Silverman, the founder and developer of the material and the procedure. You can google him and also EasySmile Veneers to get more information about this exciting advancement in cosmetic dentistry. I would suggest that you advise your dentist to check out this information, and hopefully he will be insightful to realize that this is a great tool for him to bring affordable cosmetic dentistry to more of his patients. I would also recommend a nightguard to protect your bonding in your sleep. This is a small investment to help insure that your bonding will not fracture or crack from grinding your teeth at night(many people do and are not aware of it). Hope this information is helpful and that you get your problem resolved to your satisfaction.

Answer: Veneers If you grind teeth ,bondings would not work, you will need to change to veneers , that would give you a great layout , and a nice and even smile ,but remember that the way you bite and grind will continue , just place something that it would last more time ,and remember to wear a night guard at nights to protect any restoration.
