Isotretinoin is a Vitamin A derivative.  Accutane (Roche) as a brand is no longer available, but there are several generics available as well as Absorica. Please consult with your local board certified dermatologist regarding any treatment options that you may be seeking.  Thanks for the question.

Thank you for your question. Accutane (isotretinoin) is not an antibiotic but is a vitamin A derivative. Accutane is used to treat multiple conditions but is commonly used to treat acne. With acne, isotretinoin reduces sebum production, inhibits bacteria growth, and reduces the size of sebaceous glands.
