A septoplasty is performed to address the septum of your nose – the piece of bone and cartilage that separates your right and left nostrils. This can be deviated towards one side and cause significant nasal obstruction. A septoplasty is an excellent option to greatly improve one’s breathing. Often times, this procedure is performed in conjunction with a rhinoplasty. A septoplasty alone, however, will not change the external shape of your nose.  If you are looking to change the appearance of your nose, you likely require a rhinoplasty as well as the septoplasty.   A septoplasty will not change the shape of the nose whatsoever,  and is performed in the back of the nose to improve airflow dynamics. A  septoplasty is performed for medical necessity to improve airflow through the nose when there is blockage. The rhinoplasty procedure is performed for cosmetic purposes to change the shape of the nose. Expect to pay for that component yourself.
