How would a septoplasty change my nose? (Photo)

Hey i went to the doctor a few months ago and they said that i have a deviated septum and that i needed surgery to fix ît . Judging by this picture î want to know how much it could change my nose and all and the proportions on my face .

A septoplasty is performed to address the septum of your nose – the piece of bone and cartilage that separates your right and left nostrils. This can be deviated towards one side and cause significant nasal obstruction. A septoplasty is an excellent option to greatly improve one’s breathing. Often times, this procedure is performed in conjunction with a rhinoplasty. A septoplasty alone, however, will not change the external shape of your nose.  If you are looking to change the appearance of your nose, you likely require a rhinoplasty as well as the septoplasty. I recommend seeing a facial plastic surgeon to determine which procedure is best for your needs. Good luck!

A septoplasty will not change the shape of the nose whatsoever,  and is performed in the back of the nose to improve airflow dynamics. A  septoplasty is performed for medical necessity to improve airflow through the nose when there is blockage. The rhinoplasty procedure is performed for cosmetic purposes to change the shape of the nose. Expect to pay for that component yourself. Both  functional septoplasty  and a cosmetic rhinoplasty can be performed together when needed.  For more information about the differences between the two procedures.
