Should I wear my broken retainer? (Photo)

Question

My bottom retainer is broken in the back, but it is still connected in the front. It's the weekend (Saturday) so my orthodontist is closed, but I already have a scheduled appointment Monday afternoon. Should I wear the retainer in the meantime? I've had my braces off for about 6 months and have been wearing both of my clear retainers all the time. I'm afraid my teeth will move if I don't wear it, but I'm also afraid that the broken retainer might shift my teeth. Thanks in advance!

HelloThanks for your question. Go ahead and wear the retainer. in such short amount of time it will not have any negative effects against your teeth.Make sure to make an appointment for a new retainer with your specialist as soon as possible.Smile!

I can't see the retainer up close so I can't make you an official recommendation.  My suggestions would be to wear it best you can as long as it does not cause any discomfort.  If minor movement occurs either way, your orthodontist may be able to 'reset' some of your teeth that have shifted in a new retainer.  Good luck!
