I had my front tooth filed down by an orthodontist over 15 years ago and my two front teeth don't match. I have had bonding on it multiple times and it easily chips. I have small teeth (especially my back teeth). I have had my gums surgically raised but still don't like how much gums shows when I smile. My teeth are not in bad shape or terrible, so I don't know if veneers are the answers. But I'm finding I'm still just not happy with my smile! Any professional opinions would be appreciated!!

If I understand you correctly you have two retained primary teeth where adult lateral teeth should be. If this is the case you should probably consider implants to replace these teeth. It is best if you wait until you have completed any growth before placing implants. Opinion...
Based on what you have said, it sounds as if there is possibly some adhesive stuck between your last veneer and the adjacent tooth. The cracking sound isn't a good thing so it is important to get in with your dentist ASAP to make sure that there is nothing wrong with the veneer.
If the tooth and crown broke off at the gumline, there is probably little that can be done to save it. Having it removed and an implant ideally or a bridge done to replace the missing tooth would seem to be indicated.
