I think my teeth are moving, haven't used retainer for 3 months. Should I see an orthodontist?

been wearing my retainers for 2 and a half years. When I went to my orthodontist a year a ago, I asked her when should I stop using retainers and she told me to wear it occasionally or every time remember to use it. Now that its been 3 months that I haven't used my retainers, it hurts like hell and I THINK there's a small gap in between my teeth. Should I still continue on using my retainers when I remember it or should I see an orthodontist? Thank you

Yes, you should be wearing retainers every night. Selective use of the retainers may cause teeth to move out of position.All the best!

Hello, Thanks for your question. If you feel that the retainers are too tight or something is moving go ahead and wear the retainers more. As a good rule, wear them at night that way you don't have to "remember". Creating that habit will allow you to never forget. There's nothing to loose and in the contrary you will maintain a beautiful smile for life.
