My lap band has slipped and the doctors will only offer removing it. Is there a non surgical option instead?

I have a slipped lap band and the doctors will only remove it because my BMI is 23. I don't want to live with out it!!!! is there anything i can do? such as stretches, exercising. I have been eating soft/ mushie food since I found out.

Unfortunately no.  A slipped band and a normal or low BMI won't qualify you for a revision operation.  The great news is that you are now at a BMI where with proper nutrition and a very good exercise program you probably can keep the weight off.  Also, a new medication exists call Belviq or locarserin that is designed for long-term use that helps decrease hunger.  It can be expensive.  It really works best with exercise and with a nutrition plan.  Topiramate can also greatly decrease hunger but does have side effects such as feeling a little forgetful sometimes, temporary numb fingers, and dry mouth.   With a slip the band really does need to be removed to avoid a severe emergency such as a larger slip that decreases blood flow to the stomach.  Good luck!

No need surgery and that can be back by endoscopic precedure. No problems to work again after that as well.

If the band is emptied and you have no symptoms, it doesn't need to be removed.  If, however, you still have reflux or difficulty swallowing, you need surgery.  Some surgeons might recommend fixing the band by repositioning it, but I wouldn't.  In a few years you will end up back in the same position.  I respectfully disagree with your surgeon regarding ONLY removing the band.  If the band is removed, you will regain all the weight you lost.  I always recommend simultaneous conversion to another procedure such as sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass.
