Hi,It is safe to have coolsculpting while you are taking this medication. Coolsculpting is an excellent form of non-invasive fat reduction for the right patient. Some applicators take 1 or 2 hours but the new advantage applicators take only 35 minutes and have significantly less risk for delayed onset pain (especially in the abdomen). Results are seen at 2 months and typically 1-3 treatments will be necessary on each area to achieve ideal results. The number of treatments depends on the amount of fat there and the patient's goals. There is not downtime and the results can be impressive in the right patient. We also use the Zimmer Z-wave for improved patient comfort and added results. The best candidates are those who are in pretty good shape with areas of stubborn fat that won't go away no matter what. My best, Sheila Nazarian, MD, MMM Beverly Hills, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
In our practice we've done successful CoolSculpting on patients who are on Acutane. Be sure to discuss with your board certified plastic surgeon exactly what your goals are, and how reliably they can be expected to be achieved.
Coolsculpting is one of our favorite procedures due to high patient satisfaction and excellent results. It would however be prudent to wait several months after finishing Accutane to undergo Coolsculpting due to the fact that we wait at least 6 months after Accutane treatment is finished to perform procedures like laser resurfacing etc due to an increased risk of scar formation.
I will be cautious with any skin procedures during Accutane therapy particularly in regard to hyper-pigmentation. Best wishes.
There should be no problem to undergo Coolsculpting treatment while on Accutane. I advise you to discuss this with your provider. I would still advise every patient of mine to stop with Accutane and wait feew months before they undergo any treatment. Good luck!

Coolsculpting is a great procedure that works for everyone. However, I would defer having Coolsculpting while you are on Accutane. Best, Dr. Green
You can do coolsculpting while on accutane. Accutane limited the skins ability to heal because it reduces the sebaceous glands . Since the skin is not broken /disturbed with coolsculpting then it is safe to do while on accutane .
At this time, there are no clinical studies that show any danger to having the CoolSculpting procedure while on accutane. Accutane can make the skin more prone to scarring, but this treatment is non-invasive and would not be putting the skin in any danger of scarring. Lasers and other types of skin resurfacing treatments are dangerous while on accutane. Coolsculpting does not fall into those categories. CoolSculpting is a non-sugical treatment that is very easy on the body and has little to no downtime.
It would appear that there are two issues here. First, PAH(Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia) is extremely rare, and only presents in .01% of patients(1 in 10,000) treated with CoolSculpting, and would most likely not be seen until around 90 days post treatment. But, to answer your question...
Coolsculpting would not be effective for sagging and wrinkled skin above knees. It works on pinchable areas of fat. You may consider different treatments for skin tightening such as ultherapy in combination with some other treatments. Make an appointment with board certified provider to get...
With the advent of new applicators for Zeltiq's popular CoolSculpting system, we now have the means to successfully treat smaller and more greatly contoured areas of the body, such as the knees and calves. Whether CoolSculpting's cryolipolysis technique would be the best solution in your case...
