Can I exercise with an open wound on left breast following Breast Reduction?

Hi, its been 3 weeks since my breast reduction, I'm putting ointment 2-3x a day it's the size of a quarter maybe bigger, it doesn't really hurt, just frustrating because would like it to heal sooner than later, I was wondering if its ok to exercise? I haven't since surgery and feel bloated and my stomach sticks out so I can't even enjoy my breast reduction so to say, although truthfully I love the new boobs :)

After surgery, the activity restrictions are usually in place for 6 weeks, and this is with no complications in the post surgical period. An open wound is considered a complication and exercising too early will affect closure of the wound. The area will close eventually, but it is best to check in with your surgeon and see what he suggests for wound care and activity restrictions. I hope this helps!

such questions because if anything occurs because of this, your surgeon 'owns' it.  But my patients are allowed to start low impact (aka no bounce) exercises soon after surgery and with a great sport bra, could start impact activities shortly thereafter.  The superficial open wound would not be anticipated to be a major issue but since you have one, its always best to check with YOUR surgeon.

Since you have an open wound, you need to check with your surgeon.  3 weeks is very early for any exercise, other than walking, following a breast reduction.  Typically, you want to allow time for the incisions inside AND outside to start healing before subjecting them to vigorous exercise.  Also keep in mind that sweat in an open wound is not ideal due to the bacteria that tend to follow sweat.
