Hi there I have never loved my "teeth" smile. I was considering veneers, but I feel a lip lift may actually be more of what I need. I also struggle with flared nostrils when I smile. I was thinking of perhaps looking into a lip lift with an alar base reduction, but it seems a bit scary. Just wanted to know your thoughts Thanks a ton
Answer: Evaluating Candidacy for a Lip Lift: Enhancing Your Smile and Addressing Flared Nostrils Deciding whether a lip lift is the right procedure for you involves considering several factors, especially when aiming to enhance your smile and address concerns like flared nostrils. Here are some points to consider: Lip Lift Benefits: A lip lift can shorten the space between the nose and the upper lip, allowing more of your teeth to show when you smile. This could potentially enhance your smile if you feel your teeth are not visible enough. Flared Nostrils: If flared nostrils are a concern, an alar base reduction can be considered alongside a lip lift. This procedure reduces the width of the nostrils and can be performed to achieve a more balanced look. While it may seem intimidating, consulting with a qualified plastic surgeon can help alleviate these concerns as they can explain the process and potential outcomes. Veneers vs. Lip Lift: Veneers can improve the appearance of your teeth, but if the primary concern is showing more teeth when you smile, a lip lift might indeed be a more appropriate choice. Discussing your goals with a cosmetic dentist and a plastic surgeon can help determine which option aligns best with your aesthetic desires. Consultation and Expert Advice: It's crucial to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who has experience with both lip lifts and nasal procedures. They can provide a thorough evaluation and discuss how these procedures can be tailored to meet your individual needs. By seeking expert guidance, you can make an informed decision about whether a lip lift, with or without additional procedures, is the right choice for enhancing your smile and achieving your desired look.

Answer: Lip lift A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. You are an excellent candidate for a lip lift. A lip lift may also narrow the base of the nose depending on how it is performed. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
