What kind of doctor do I need to contact for facial muscle damage?

I'll try to provide pictures soon. I had a rock thrown in my face, recovered relatively well, little scarring. My face has symmetry at rest and with most expressions now, unfortunately, I think I either have nerve damage or damage to the muscle. Obviously I'm not a doctor, but I believe my depressor anguli oris has been detatched from my jaw. When I frown, there is a depressed spot where my DAO is (left side) or should be, however it's like the muscle still works, but part of it has been torn.

It must be difficult for you to navigate through this unfortunate incident.  I recommend a consultation to evaluate the type of injury whether muscular or nerve injury, possible nerve testing to help better understand the long-term prognosis and possibly CT imaging if necessary.  Please schedule a consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon and/or plastic surgeon.

You can see a specialist facial plastic surgeon or a plastic surgeon/craniofacial surgeon. There can be a number of things causing your problem which will need proper assessment by a thorough physical exam. Hope this helps.
