It’s great question. The full answer depends on whether or not your body had any - even the slightest - tendency towards androgenetic alopecia. For 95 % to 98 % of males with a story like you have given, there will be some shedding for another 2-5 months and then shedding will settle down completely and return back to normal. For a small proportion of males, the shedding will settle close to normal rates but the density will not quite get back to what it once was. This is due to some acceleration and precipitation of androgenetic alopecia during the minoxidil use period. Be sure to see a hair specialist to ensure that issues like seborrheic dermatitis or other correctable issues are not present. The 2 key points here are that 1) for the vast majority of males, this is a short term issue only and 2) a very small proportion of males have a prolonged course which does not leave them with the same density in the end.
