Best treatment for scar on my face - deep, atrophic, from shingles. 8 weeks old. (Photos)

I recently had shingles which resulted in a bad rash across my left cheek. The rash scabbed over and one of the scabs has left a deep atrophic scar. I have had the scar for about 8 weeks. I’d really like to improve the appearance significantly, and I’m just wondering what the best procedure would be. As it’s quite deep I would assume it may be surgical?

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.

Treating Scars between weeks eight and twelve is a treatment window sweet spot for achieving optimal results. By eight weeks following their development, the scars are strong enough to withstand treatment After twelve weeks, they are considered "mature," and, as such, the chance for substantial improvement with any treatment typically diminishes. Subcision, which I have personally been performing since 1994, is an effective and safe technique for elevating and smoothing all kinds of indented, atrophic scars, from all causes, including chickenpox and shingles. Make sure to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist and best of luck.
