I have crooked teeth on the lower jaw & my upper jaw very mild ie my front two tooth slightly are forward. I have been advised by my orthodontist that to achieve a white straight smile I would need to wear fixed braces up to 14 months. I’m not keen as it will take 6 months on my upper teeth but I will need to keep them on. I also want to get a white smile, which I won’t be able to achieve after this period. I want some advice on best options. I’m 43 and costs are more with straightening.

"ongoing braces on bottom teeth", so do you have aligner/Invisalign OR braces in the lower arch?
or are you saying braces orthodontic treatment?
More loosening of teeth is common with braces than with aligner treatment. tooth mobility is temporary [3 to 6 months] and goes during the retainer...
You have two concerns.
1. In your current photo, lips are stretched on one side. please upload a front photo with a relaxed smiling face to judge your issue (cant OR muscle asymmetry).
2. your other concern is a curve of speed, I can see an exaggerated curve of speed in your side photo....
White spots occur because plaque and bacteria has built up around braces : the enamel there has been weakened and the tooth is at risk for a cavity and infection.
1. use high fluoride toothpaste.
if that do not work
2. visit cosmetic dentist for tooth coloured filling/ veneer.
