Hypertrophic scar behind ear - is there a limit for steroid injections for scarring?

Unfortunately I developed some hypotrophic scaring behind one ear after surgery. I am now 9 months out from surgery and have had three rounds of steroid injections to area with a fourth coming up. I have heard there is a limit to how many injections you can have, is this true and possible side effects. I have seen slight improvement.
